Did you ever experience the feeling of floating outside your body and looking at your own physical body from outside of it? This special experience is commonly referred to as an out-of-body experience. And it is estimated that one out of every five individuals experiences this worldwide phenomenon.
Common Out Of Body Experiences
Individuals who have experienced Out-of-Body Experiences (OBE) recall that they are often oblivious of the sensation of being outside their physical bodies. Commonly, they are either sleeping or on the verge of falling asleep when an OBE usually happens. The sensation of departing from your physical body usually does not last that long, maybe not even one single minute, And typically, by the time that the person realizes that he is outside his physical body, an unknown force pulls him back into his physical self.
It is very common to hear of out-of-body experiences from people who are sick, too tired from work, or undergoing severe emotional pressure. And aside from these instances, OBE is also very commonly reported by individuals who have undergone a near-death experience, mystical trance, hynopompic dream, or are under the influence of psychoactive drugs
Each Out Of Body Experience Is Unique
Each out-of-body experience is unique for that particular individual. There are some people who go through a spiritual epiphany after an out-of-body experience, while there are some others who experience a feeling of general peace and love. Although it is also possible to come out of an out-of-body experience with a feeling of fear and anxiety. And still, some people go through an out-of-body experience and leave without any spiritual discovery or effect.
Out Of Body Experience: How To Achieve It Successfully
While many out-of-body experiences happen spontaneously without the person consciously trying to experience it, an out-of-body experience can actually be also induced. Here are some tips and guidelines on how to achieve an out-of-body experience:
- Get comfortable. An out-of-body experience often starts with a sensation of shaking or vibration. To get to this stage, it is necessary for one to relax. Wear loose clothing that would not restrict your movements in any way. Avoid wearing jewelries and other accessories which can only make you feel uncomfortable. Make sure that the room temperature is just right – not too warm and not too cold. Lie down in a comfortable position. Breathe through your mouth.
- Concentrate. Once you have already positioned into a relaxed state, your next goal is to reach the hypnagogic state – a state which borders on sleep. It is necessary for you to go deeper into this state until you reach a point where you are already unaware of your body and senses. Close your eyes. Look into the darkness while concentrating on a spot just above your forehead. Reach for the vibrations that are at that spot right above your head. Perform a mental move of pulling these vibrations into your head. Once you have successfully reached this stage, your body will start to vibrate. The objective is to control these vibrations into pulses. Although for a first-timer, it can be quite difficult to achieve. It may help for you to reach out for an object you can grasp, something that is normally out of your reach. Experts in out-of-body experiences suggest that you need to feel that object, allowing your hand to pass through it while stopping the vibrations, then finally bringing that object back to you.
- Lifting out. This is the stage when you are ready to leave your physical body. To achieve this, you should start to think about weightlessness and the feeling of floating upward as you feel lighter and lighter. Other experts in out-of-body experiences suggest to “roll” over the bed, as if getting off it, and twisting your body until you face up and float towards the ceiling. There are other different methods and techniques that one can use. And with constant practice, lifting out shall become easier.
